Please help bring the Enterovirus 71 vaccine to the US. The virus is here! My husband (36) was in a long coma from this and will never be the same. We are in IN and have connected with multiple families via social media across the Midwest impacted by HFM in this way. Daycare providers have no idea that Hand Foot Mouth can be fatal! We need the vaccine and education. I’m begging for help on this, as a 36 year old near widow, now care taker and mother of 2 babies/toddlers.

But watching this has given me hope and comfort to move forward knowing I'm not alone. All the very best to you Mathew thank you for posting.

My husband was recently diagnosed with this after 6 months of misdiagnosis. The neurological community should be more aware of the signs and be trained to test for this early on when someone presents with seizures and memory loss/confusion after being perfectly normal. This illness is life changing and it’s amazing how hard it is to find a neurologist who is trained in treating it.

I was just discharged with Autoimmune Encephalitis, I'm English and married in the United States, I have no health insurance, and no green card yet, in England, they put me in multiple psyche wards through a misdiagnosis of schizophrenia, after spending 12 months institutionalised my wife helped me move here through a marriage green card, and finally got me out of England; two years into our marriage, I began to have a seizure, which triggered the autoimmune encephalitis, I was just discharged last week after two weeks in hospital, a spinal tap, and 14 days on a Saline IV, I'm so thankful to be alive, and had never heard of this condition beforehand, I didn't know my own name, but I knew who my wife was, its horrible to think that if this happened in England, they would have resectioned me into a psyche ward through misdiagnosis, and I would be dead; I feel very lucky.

Hey do you think that there is correlation between benzos an encepyhltis ? Because when people come off benzos they experience all the exact same symptoms as encephylitis. I mean down to a t. An bensos can cause a weakened immune system also can cause nervous system damage. All correlated to encephylotis. If this was the case then people thar are On benzos for long period of time anthen come off may have drug induced encephyltis. All the symptoms are exactly the same. Also benzos can treat brain inflammation. Well then due to there addictive nature it would make sense that benzos can actually cause brain inflammation when taken off. An I beleive that many people are suffering , not from benzo withdrawal, but from benzo induced encephyltis.

@@encephalitisinternational you should do research on this. More research needs to be done on what long term benzodiazepine use actually does. They know that it can cause bind , benzo induced nuerological disorder, wich is potentially linked to nueroinflamattion. Wich can also be types of encephalitis. Or encephalopathy. I'll look into your site more tho thanks for the response.

I’d love to get a vaccine for Enterovirus 71 in the USA. It is available in other countries, but not here. Please! This virus caused both Encephalitis, Meningitis, Myocarditis, Rhabdo, Pneumonia, Lung Hemorrhage, and 6 Pulmonary Emboli! A long coma and recovery at just 36. The virus was from my daughter’s preschool and we know of many children who also suffered.

Sir i am dr.vinayak patil. My 5 year old daughter has autoimmune encephalitis and is in the hospital since 15 days. Ivig inj, inj methylprednisolone, inj levipil(Levetiracetam), inj Fosphenytoin (neofost), inj Gardenal (Phenobarbitone), inj Dexmedetomidine all started on drip. still did not get much result, seizures came 3/4 times a day then in drs given Midazolam drip and put on the ventilator. And it helped in reducing the spikes in the brain . Then some seizures went away. After applying midazolam drip after 2 days midazolam inj were stopped. And removed the ventilator. But now after reducing midazolam, seizures are still occurring in less quantity. Now there are 3 anti seizures drugs along with inj Lacosamide and tab Tapomac. There is still some abnormality in the eeg Feedback

I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Encephalitis last year, in August. My life has not been the same since. I was having two seizures per day, behaving as I was completely out of my mind. I wasn't me, and I do not have many memories. I was lucky to have been diagnosed quickly, within a month. I started the treatment with steroids, immunosuppressors, anti seizure medication, and a bunch of other stuff to mitigate side effects... Thanks for posting this.

This LGI1 encephalitis is relatively rare (according to my neurologist). There are probably fewer than 10 people known to have it in Switzerland. And I feel very lonely because of it. That makes your publication all the more valuable. I immediately recognize myself in some of your problems (emotionality, memory, tremors, etc.). I was never tearful and I hated myself for crying in the middle of the family, seemingly over nothing. I start to realize... Thank you so much for this video!

====== 2021 ====== I had it exactly three years ago at the age of 34 and my doctors in germany recognized it and saved me. I had a fever for about a week (38-39.5°C), eye pain with eye movements and I couldn't name objects properly. I mean I would have had neck pain with neck movements as well. I did not have a cold or cough on this. For example, I wanted to drink Coke, but I couldn't name it anymore. I used some other word that didn't make sense. The emergency physician then suggested that I might have herpes on the brain. Without his assessment, I very likely would have died a few days later. I could barely speak, write, or even use a cell phone during my time in the hospital. I couldn't remember what year it was. Thanks to rehab and subsequent medical care, I was able to learn almost everything again. Even using a computer was new to me again. The first few weeks in the hospital and rehab felt to me like I was going through the time from birth to now all over again. My non-medical guess is that my brain rebooted like a computer. Now, I am back at work (I recognize everything but can't always name it). I have difficulty remembering personal names, but I can remember technical terms with practice. Thank you to all the doctors who are working to improve health. ====== My second birthday after HSE & my new learning path (2023) ====== I have found a way for me to better remember new and very abstract words as well as information again. In the following example I want to remember the word Herpes Simplex Encephalitis (not easy at all for me, although I had read it very often after the illness). 1. Using Anki (a free and open source flashcard software), I create a flashcard with the following tools and commands, which I then look at and practice every day repeatedly on my cell phone or computer. 2. Using a speech-based artificial intelligence like ChatGPT (not completely free), I create a mnemonic with the following command to somehow visualize the first letters of Herpes Simplex Encephalitis, i.e. HSE: Command to ChatGPT: "Can you come up with a pictorially imaginable mnemonic sentence with very simple words for the following letters, assigning exactly one word to each letter so that the number of words equals the number of letters: HSE " One of several possible answers on the part of ChatGPT: Hamsters Spin Endlessly 3. With another artificial intelligence for image creation like Midjourney (not completely free) I create a picture of a Hamster in a wheel. (Sorry, I can't copy pictures here) 4. As a question I put in Anki: "Which disease did I have?" 5. As answer I put in Anki: "Herpes Simplex Encephalitis | mnemonic: Hamsters Spin Endlessly | mnemonic image: "The picture of the Hamster in a wheel". 6. In my case, I can now remember this word better because some part of my brain is linking this information together. The advantage of artificial intelligence for me is that I can create many flashcards that are relevant to me quickly and easily. It's not an easy way back, but we'll find one or more ways.

This would be considered rare and unusual, however. A HSV- neuro infection would normally require urgent medical attention. The patient would become acutely unwell very quickly. Untreated the likely hood of mortality is very high indeed. There is always the possibility of an atypical presentation, and one could never exclude the possibility of a subacute presentation. If you have any more questions, we would recommend emailing the support team at support@encephalitis.info - hope that helps!

Great, informative video, thank you so much. My 55 yr old Husband was admitted on the 15th July 2023 with encephalitis simplex herpes virus. I had never heard of it prior. He was in ICU 11 days, then into a regular ward for almost 2 weeks. He's back home and recovering well & has great support by the hospital, speech, physiotherapy & occupational therapy. His main issues are memory, remembering names of people, mainly new people in his life. Remembering in general , fatigue and he also feels the cold more.(although we live in Portugal and it's quite warm here at the moment)

@@encephalitisinternationalhello im so sad because my mother was diagnosed with viral encephalitis last August 5, 2023. It started with Shingles which get out in her neck up to her head. It was so near the brain. She was intubated from August 7, 2023 up to August 18, 2023. But unfortunately she didn't make it when she extubated. She has multiple cardiac arrest. We are so wary at first not to let her intubated but her ABG result was 48% oxygen level. Please enlighten us if we done wrong because we let her intubated. Thank you so much
